It was a perfect afternoon for neighbors to gather for tree dedications for some long-time, dearly departed neighbors at the View firehouse #62. 999 Chambers Road.
Trees were planted for Tom Eviston (Buckeye tree), Raymond “Doc” Hitchcock (Redbud), and Loraine Carlot (White Dogwood).
Each family representative was presented with a small bouquet of flowers from Jeff Green of Green Floral Design Studio.
Jeanne Gani read a poem from Tanya Biesecker entitled “We Remember”
“One day leads to another
and another.
Time passing quickly,
We each have a thought of these times.
These days that one, two or three of us
Are no longer here.
Not in flesh, at least.
But you’re with us in memory.
Each on our own-thinking, remembering
And us here now-talking of times gone by.
We remember.
Your laugh
Hugs
Our times in friendship
A movie
A game
A walk
A great meal
Caring…
We’ve come together today
to mond our memories
Taking action
Digging in this fertile soil
Making ready to plant trees
To carry all our memories forward
In living tribute.
In your honor, Doc, we plant this Redbud,
In your honor, Loraine, we plant this White Dogwood,
In your honor, Tom, we plant this Buckeye.
Each distinctive–just like you, our friends!
We remember.”
Special thanks Nick Gani for coordinating the tree purchases and planting. Memorial plaques will installed in the near future.
